1. Plan Ahead Before You Visit
Night Heron Park sits inside Kiawah Island Golf Resort, which means access is controlled through the island’s security gate. If you’re staying at the resort, you can access the Treehouse Activity Center and its programs as part of your visit.
If you’re staying elsewhere, you can still visit, but you’ll need to reserve an eligible activity in advance. A confirmation email for that reservation must be presented at the security gate before you’ll be allowed onto the island.
Heads up! Simply arriving and asking for general access to the park isn’t enough. Visitors without a reservation for an activity such as bowling, the golf simulators, or a guided nature program will be turned away.

You can spend the morning learning about local wildlife, enjoy a round of bowling or indoor golf after lunch, and, before heading out, browse the arcade or settle in for a casual meal.

- Birders should pack a telephoto lens of at least 300mm to capture the area's abundant birdlife.

Spark Bowling
The Treehouse's eight full-size Spark Bowling lanes are a favorite for families, golf groups, and anyone looking for a little friendly competition. Each lane accommodates up to six players, complimentary bowling shoes are included, and younger children can use bowling ramps. Thought, If you're hoping to play, it's a good idea to reserve way in advance.
GOLFZON Simulators
Rain doesn't have to interrupt your golf plans. The Treehouse features two state-of-the-art GOLFZON simulators, complete with moving floors and multi-surface hitting mats that recreate real course conditions. Reservations are recommended here too — and metal spikes aren't permitted.
Art Studio
The Art Studio offers an artsy and crafty alternative to it all, with guided workshops and open studio sessions featuring pottery painting, glass fusing, candle making, canvas painting, wood crafts, and seasonal projects. Since the schedule changes daily, it's worth checking ahead to see what's on offer.
Lively Arcade
The Lively Arcade mixes nostalgic classics like Skeeball and air hockey with newer favorites, including Mario Kart, plus shuffleboard and a photo booth. Arcade cards can be purchased at the Treehouse desk. Since balances are non-refundable, it's best to load only what you expect to use before recycling your card.
4. Best Way to end the day? Grab a Bite at The Perch
Located inside the Treehouse Activity Center, The Perch is a casual pub that serves pizza, appetizers, finger foods, and other relaxed fare in a family-friendly setting.
Heads up! If you're planning to eat here as an off-island visitor, remember that you'll still need a reservation for a qualifying resort activity to obtain a security gate pass.
A Few Tips Before You Go
As I’ve said above, a little planning makes visiting Night Heron Park much easier. Here’s what to have in mind:
- Book your activity as early as possible, especially if you're hoping to bowl or use the golf simulators. Reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance.
- Dress appropriately before arriving. Swimwear and bare feet aren't permitted inside the Treehouse Activity Center.
- If you're visiting the Nature Center or joining an outdoor tour, pack insect repellent.
- Families with younger children should also note the supervision rules. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult for bowling and golf simulators, while those 14 and under need adult supervision inside the Nature Center.
